High-Shear Vacuum Emulsifier Machine

A vacuum emulsifying mixer, also called a vacuum emulsifier machine or vacuum homogenizer emulsifier, is an industrial mixing equipment. Generally speaking, a vacuum emulsifying mixer combines high-shear homogenization, heating, cooling, and vacuum functions into one integrated unit. It is designed to mix and emulsify two or more immiscible liquids (typically oil and water) under vacuum conditions to produce smooth, stable, and air-bubble-free creams, lotions, ointments, gels, and pastes.

Unlike conventional open-tank mixers, a vacuum emulsifying mixer removes air from the mixing chamber during operation. Choosing the Right Configuration: Lift Type or Platform Type

Based on the movement method of the cover or the tank body, and to optimize cleaning convenience and operational stability, we typically classify vacuum emulsifying mixers into Lift Type and Platform Type.
If your product is high-viscosity like peanut butter with a relatively fixed formulation, the Platform Type is more suitable. If your product requires frequent recipe changeovers, or if production must strictly comply with GMP hygiene standards and requires frequent thorough cleaning, then the Lift Type would be the ideal choice. The lid is hydraulically liftable, water phase, oil phase, and raw materials can be fed directly into the emulsifying vessel via pipelines under vacuum conditions. Discharge options include vessel tilting or bottom valve discharge. Heating is achieved by introducing steam or electric heating into the jacket layer, with temperature freely settable and automatically controlled. How Does a Vacuum Emulsifying Mixer Work?

The working process of a vacuum emulsifying mixer can be broken down into several key stages, the vacuum emulsifier machine can be customized according to customers’ technical requirements.

1. Pre-Mixing in Separate Phase Vessels

Oil-phase ingredients (waxes, oils, emulsifiers) are heated and mixed in the oil phase pot, while water-phase ingredients (water, humectants, water-soluble actives) are prepared in the water phase pot. Both vessels are temperature-controlled.

2. Vacuum Transfer

Under vacuum suction, the oil and water phases are transferred into the main emulsifying mixing vessel through dedicated pipelines. This closed transfer minimizes contamination and air exposure.

3. High-Shear Emulsification

The high-shear homogenizer (3500 rpm) rapidly disperses and emulsifies the oil and water phases into a fine, uniform emulsion. The wall-scraping agitator ensures no material sticks to the vessel wall, while the central paddle stirrer provides macro-level mixing.

4. Vacuum Defoaming & Cooling

After emulsification, the vacuum system continues to remove any residual air. The cooling system gradually reduces the temperature while slow-speed stirring maintains homogeneity. This prevents air re-incorporation and ensures a smooth, glossy final product.

5. Discharge

The finished product can be discharged via a bottom valve (with or without a transfer pump) or by tilting the vessel. The vessel can also be equipped with a hydraulic lifting system for easy access during cleaning and maintenance.
